Biography: Despite being born in Montreal to a loving family in 1979, The Drifter still never found Montreal to be much of a home. Stranded in a school system that emphasized rote memorization over gaining knowledge, and subject to the normal family pressure to get high grades and raise a family, The Drifter never really felt as if he had reached his full potential. A double graduate, with degrees from the Department of Science at McGill and the Department of Engineering at Concordia, he could only find menial work for a major telecom, and then a small computer security company. Eventually he was let go during a cashflow situation – merely days after being told that he would be the last one to be let go in such a situation.
Maybe it was the stories he read as a boy, or maybe it was the history books he couldn’t put down – but the dream of The Drifter has always been to explore. Although there are no more frontiers left to be discovered, nor any ships to test one’s luck in, nor any lands left to be plundered, one must still tame the savage boundaries of one’s ignorance. Common sense tells us that nothing changes a man more than experience and travel and thus, with nothing holding him in Montreal, The Drifter leaves now to experience his nation. Will he find a new place to call home? Or will he find a new appreciation for the city he leaves behind?
